Not only because if its outstanding history but, what’s more important because of its enormous potential. We believe in Serbia’s potential. Americans of Serbian descent have significantly contributed to development of the U.S. We are absolutely convinced, not only that Serbia can become a member of the EU but also a leader in Europe,” Clinton said. Tadic has repeated that Serbia is doing everything to arrest two remaining Hague fugitives Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic, while the U.S. secretary of state said that she believed that the Serbian authorities were truly working hard to locate them. “I wish to publically thank Serbia for your strong cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. I appreciate everything that your government and especially security forces officials have done,” she stressed. Still, there are issues that Serbia and the U.S. do not agree on and that is the issue of Kosovo. Clinton also praised the Serbian police for their successful protection of the Pride Parade participants. She had a meeting with Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic and Science and Technological Development Minister Bozidar Djelic and two separate meetings with Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic and Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac. B92 External Communications Director Sasa Mirkovic was among them. “What was especially important to me is that during the talk about the media situation in Serbia my colleagues and I discussed a topic which is very current for us and that’s primarily the fact that the media are having an extremely hard time doing business due to financial and economic situation, and that they are facing disloyal competition in the market considering that the state is still the owner of some media and because privatization process in the media still has not been finished,” Mirkovic pointed out. The U.S. secretary of state will finish her visit to the region with a visit to Kosovo. Afterwards she will travel to Brussels where she will speak to EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and attend NATO foreign ministers meeting.
