EULEX: Arrests in north Kosovo

EULEX Deputy Head Roy Reeve stated Friday that the EU police will soon start arresting certain people in northern Kosovo who broke the law. Reeve said in an interview for Kosovska Mitrovica Radio Kontakt Plus that EULEX plans to apprehend several individuals from northern Kosovo, adding that the investigations are under way and that results can be expected soon. He did not disclose if some politicians from northern Kosovo were also under investigation. Reeve stressed that he and EULEX Head Yves De Kermabon will be informed 12 hours ahead of the arrest operation, and added he has absolute confidence in EULEX prosecutors and police. He said that EULEX started the investigations at the beginning of 2010, after inheriting hundreds of cases from UNMIK. The EULEX deputy head noted that investigations are under way into two recent cases, the assassination attempt of Kosovo assembly member Petar Miletic and the recent terrorist bomb attack in the northern part of Mitrovica which killed Dr Mesud Dzekovic.
