Why else is everyone including your fake government trying to abolish Resolution 1244?
Could it be because it still guarantees Serbia's territorial integrity?
(Peggy, 21 August 2010 01:20)

No, it's because it does no longer reflect the reality on the ground (it's 11 yr old).
=======================

Does it matter how old a resolution is if it has not been superceded by another?
Until this happens, res 1244 is still very much valid and that's why your fake government is trying to abolish it.

If it has no substance now, why waste time trying to get rid of it, especially since you don't have a hope in Hell of doing it?

No, it's because it does no longer reflect the reality on the ground (it's 11 yr old). However, if 1244 continues, that's certainly not a problem for Kosovo since ICJ said that Kosovo's UDI does not violate 1244 and in any case, if you read the UDI it clearly says "we shall act consistent with [...] resolution 1244 (1999)". So Kosovo is going to act in line with 1244 for as long as 1244 is in place.

"Is EULEX saying "hey we are coming to get you, just stay there and wait for us"? Very weird this piece of news is.
(KU, 20 August 2010 23:31) "

Yes, very. But a week (two weeks?) ago the EULEX spokeswoman said the same thing - they were going to arrest 15 people in the north soon and that would be enough to settle things down. So why not just do it, and then announce it? The indefiniteness of their plans may have something to do with the indefiniteness of the government's election plans for North Mitrovica - something's about to change, but nobody knows when. Just keeping hope alive, I guess.

That's simple and easy: If the question would have been: "Has a certain ethnic minority the right to split off and form an own state?"
the ICJ would have refused to give it's opinion. Everyone should be able to see that "YES" as an answer would destabilze not oly the balkans, but the whole world! There are dozens of countries with ethnic minorities.
(Top, 20 August 2010 20:28)

Since you are just speculating here,I am going to do the same.
Yes it is easy: If the question would have been: "Have the Albanians in Kosovo the right to split off and form an own state?"
the ICJ would have said YES Everyone should be able to see that "NO" as an answer would destabilize not only the Balkans, but the whole world! There are dozens of rogue regimes that would see that as an OK to commit genocide against their ethnic minorities.

# Dear Peggy, and to use your own words when are you going to get it through you head that Serbia lost Kosovo and is out of the picture now for 11 years?
(Joe, 20 August 2010 16:23)

Can't because it isn't true. Why else is everyone including your fake government trying to abolish Resolution 1244?

EULEX has done a good job so far, but this is funny. Warning people that you're going to get them soon is not the smartest thing to do if you really want to get them soon. Specifying that the people who you are going to arrest soon are those who had investigations with UNMIK(?). Is this news for real? Is EULEX saying "hey we are coming to get you, just stay there and wait for us"? Very weird this piece of news is.

Well since Serbia "forgot" to ask the ICJ about seccesion but asked about the declaration of independendence instead, now that the ball is in the UN court, why didn't Serbia send a resolution that explicitly asks the UNGA to express itself on the right of Albanians to secede?

EULEX is there to supervise.

EULEX is there to keep law and order in Kosovo, something KPS is either not willing or not able (not qualified) to do. Simple and easy!

ICJ did not rule on whether it was legal for you to secede, only whether it was legal for you to say it.
They handballed it the UN for that one.

Joe,

If Kosovo was gone from Serbia's hands, then Brussels wouldn't be asking for Serbia to amend the UN Resolution.

Just wishfull thinking on your part Joe.

Correction Ben..

First of all KPS does what it wants in Albanian dominated areas. You know clearly well they have no authority in N. Mitrovica.

Second of all.. EULEX doesn't supervise Albanians.. it supervises overall Western policy in the Balkans which is to strip Kosovo away from Serbia.

What I am trying to say is, they are the reason you have this freedom to do that. Not because your "government" is a legitamte or soverign entity.

..without them, you are nothing. But when it becomes to expensive to maintain, they will pull out.

Who will you go running too then?
