“Serbia ready to cooperate in war on crime”

Justice Minister Snezana Malovic said that Serbia is ready to cooperation with all countries in the fight against organized crime. “Serbia is absolutely open to cooperation,” Malovic told B92. “Serbia ready to cooperate in war on crime” She said that the Montenegrin government’s actions in the case of suspected drug smuggler Darko Saric were not in accordance with the rules of behavior for prosecutions and international legal aids. She said that Montenegro made a similar mistake in the case of Stanko Subotic, adding that the Montenegrin Finance Ministry degrade and devalued the decision of the Serbia court to take away his property located in Montenegro. “This shows that the decisions of the Serbian courts are not respected and that there is no will for cooperation,” Malovic said, adding that some people who are wanted for crimes in Serbia have received Montenegrin citizenship, which shows that there is no decisive will present in the fight against organized crime. Malovic said that she believes that an agreement could be reached with Montenegrin authorities if meetings were set up to talk about these issues. The Justice Minister also said that Serbia’s prisons are overcrowded. “We are trying to deal with that in several ways. The prison system was untouched and it has rules that do not coincide with rules of modern prison systems,” Malovic said, adding that a new prison will be built by the end of June. Snezana Malovic
