The Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) left the Subotica city executive authorities on Monday. Party leader Istvan Pastor, unhappy with the adoption of decisions on the City Council, offered at the City Assembly session the resignations of SVM councilors, after which they left the session. Subotica Mayor Sasa Vucinic denied that this was a political showdown, saying it was honoring the electoral choice of the citizens, the majority of whom voted for this coalition and its readiness to make the town function by taking on responsibility, “rather than by making rotten compromises”.
