Olli Rehn said in Brussels today the EU and the Contact Group are resolved to find a solution for Kosovo. The EU enlargement commissioner said that the bloc and the Contact Group would “leave no stone unturned” in efforts to find a solution through negotiations, and "active approach." "No stone unturned in search for Kosovo solution" Rehn’s statement came after a meeting with Macedonia’s President Branko Crvenkovski. Asked whether the EU was considering a “plan B” to set the legal basis for the EU to take over administration without a new UN resolution in place, the enlargement commissioner reiterated the EU’s commitment to the negotiating process. “The EU fully supports the work of the Contact Group mediating Troika,” he underscored, adding that the bloc stood by endeavors of Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa who is seeking to speed up the European integration of Serbia, Macedonia and other states in the region. Meanwhile, Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi said in Rome that there needs to be "a clear perspective for Serbia in the European Union." “It is the only road we have to follow in order to contribute to the solving of the Kosovo issue,” he said. Prodi once again expressed his support for the Troika, and reminded reporters in the Italian capital he had sent a letter to Portuguese officials presiding over the EU, calling on "resumption and the strengthening of cooperation with Belgrade."
