Contact Group ends London meeting

Ischinger said the Troika would not make new proposals, as the plan of former UN envoy Martti Ahtisaari remains on the table.

The London meeting took place at the level of political directors and was also attended by the representatives of the U.S.-EU-Russia Troika, Frank Wisner, Wolfgang Ischinger and Alexandar Botsan-Harchenko.

They are to report back to UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon by December 10 on the progress of the talks.

Earlier today, Ischinger said the Serbs and ethnic Albanians may be facing their last chance to reach a deal.

He said they would be to blame if the talks ended in failure.

"We... are offering Belgrade and Priština another opportunity - maybe the last opportunity - to work out a negotiated solution," Ischinger told the BBC.

"If there is success of this effort, it will be their success, if there is failure of this process, it will be their failure," he said.

The Contact Group is made up of officials from the U.S., Russia, France, Germany, Great Britain and Italy.

The Troika will be in Belgrade tomorrow, for meetings with senior Serbian officials, and will make its way to Priština on Saturday.
