Goran Svilanović says he is convinced Russia will veto a new Kosovo resolution if it is put up for a Security Council vote.

“Russia will block Kosovo resolution”

According to Svilanović, a resolution will soon be put before the council, and when that happens, “Moscow will put an end to everything, either by a clear indication it will use its veto powers, or, should the threat not suffice, by actually using it.”

If Russia does veto a proposed UN Kosovo resolution, the process will shift to a different level since the topic will no longer be Kosovo alone, but the overall relations between Moscow, Washington and Brussels.

“This would entail serious talks within this triangle, with uncertain results. As for Kosovo, I admit, I do not dare predict the outcome, all the more so since the behavior of the Albanians remains a mystery,” Svilanović, a former foreign minister in the Đinđić cabinet, told the daily.
