Greek drug raid nets 50,000 ecstasy pills

A 31-year-old, identified as a Turk of Kurdish origin, was detained on suspicion of selling the drug and appeared Thursday before a public prosecutor.

Police, citing information from Interpol, said he had lived in Greece for two years and traveled frequently to Germany and the Netherlands.

Police described the haul as significant and likely part of a bigger international operation in selling the recreational drug.

They said the pills, with an estimated market value of around EUR 1mn, had been destined for use at rave parties on Greek islands.
