As with other administrative councils, this one is under party control, Barać said, adding that this offers the opportunity for many of the officials to take money for themselves and their parties.

“We must not forget that one part of the problem always shows up, that the political parties divide the state functions between themselves, vertically, with their people. I think that this is how political parties are funded here. We are talking about public companies and other state-owned ones,” she said.

Barać said that the Serbian Government needs to look into the National Investment Plan and the concessions made for the Horgoš-Požega highway as well.

”The way it is set up, the NIP is not a national investment plan. It was quickly put together, before elections, with the goal of getting votes for the political parties that created it,” Barać said.

She added that most of the corruption council’s efforts to warn the government of cases that need to be looked at have been ignored.
