I wish some politicians had the guts to speak up and tackle corruption. once they get the ball rolling it'll be hard to stop. corruption weakens a country - not surprised that serbia is in the state it is at the moment. it's also upto the population to say enough is enough and demand more transparency. only then can people see who is connected to who and question any conflicting interests. something that can be learnt from the west.

This is a perfect example of why an economy works best when it is in private hands with as little political interference as humanly possible. No country is immune from corruption but the relative extent of it is what is troubling.

France is well known for having a particularly 'clean' system of party financing. Not. In the great UK, non-returnable 'loans' are made. In Bulgaria, well never mind.

Serbia doesn't stand out from any other country in this respect, apart from it not being fully institutionalized as in the 'advanced democracies' in the West...

yeah, in serbia it´s corruption, in the good west it´s lobbying.

cry a river if you can´t pay the same money like serb or russian oligarchs.

the debt to the imf is repaid, they aren´t sitting in the ministry for finance anymore. now the good stakes won´t get western companies wich money serbia needs so much, but the russian or asian company that can pay much more.
