The Statistics Institute says retail prices of goods and services in Serbia in January rose on average by 0.4 percent.

Retail prices up by 0.4 percent

The average cost of living in Serbia in January rose by 0.5 percent. The discrepancy between the increase in the index of retail prices and the cost of living index was due to different impacts of growth in prices for individual items on the overall index, the statement says.

At the same time, the prices of agricultural products increased by 1.9 percent.

There was no change in the average costs of industrial foodstuffs, with an insignificant variation in prices reported.

The prices of beverages rose by 0.4 percent on average.

Compared to December, the price of tobacco is up by 10.5 percent on average.

The prices of non-food industrial products fell by 0.2 percent. This sector saw a drop in the prices of oil derivatives.
