A police officer was shot and killed late on Monday while responding to a report of a man in illegal possession of an automatic rifle.

The incident happened in the village of Bare, near Pozarevac, in eastern Serbia.The policeman was shot several times and died of his wounds on the way to the hospital.
MUP's Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (SAJ) was then called to the scene and entered the house where the shooter was located early on Tuesday morning. The suspect was shot and killed as he attempted to once again open fire on police officers.
According to the statement, D.Z. was reported for illegal possession of the weapon by his son-in-law, with whom he had an altercation.
