Family of murdered French football fan Brice Taton has filed a request for damages worth EUR 300,000 for the mental anguish they suffered. “The French fan’s family requests EUR 300,000 from the Serbian police (MUP) for the mental anguish they suffered. The proposal was today submitted to the Public Prosecution,” the Taton’s lawyer Slobodan Ruzic said. His parents, Suzanne and Alain, and sister Virginie have suggested an out-of-court settlement, requesting payment of damages. “The Taton family has never forgotten the help provided by the Serbian state organs and they are grateful that the persons who took part in the murder were arrested quickly. Regardless of all that, the family believes that there is a clear and objective responsibility of the police for Brice Taton’s murder because the French police would bear the same responsibility if such crime happened in France,” Ruzic’s office said in a release.
