The Scorpions unit came under the Serbian public’s spotlight in early June 2005 when a video showing execution of six Srebrenica Muslims in the village of Trnovo was showed in the Hague Tribunal. Several witnesses said that the paramilitary unit had about 150 members, while police General Miroljub Stevanovic testified that the Scorpions had been formed in the beginning of conflicts in former Yugoslavia as a “regular unit” of then Republic of Serb Krajina Army. The unit performed operations in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina until 1995 when it was dissolved. However, the Scorpions became active again in 1999 when NATO bombing started in order to operate in Kosovo. Bruno Vekaric (FoNet, file)
