Former Mobtel mobile operator owner Bogoljub Karic neither requested nor received asylum in the Russian Federation. This was confirmed in Belgrade on Friday by the Serbian Justice Ministry. Tycoon wasn't granted Russian asylum Minister Snezana Malovic said the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed her that no person by the name of Bogoljub Karic had submitted a request to be granted the status of refugee, or temporary political asylum. "There is an outstanding Interpol warrant against Karic, issued by Serbia, in connection to an investigation into wrongdoings at the Mobtel company," Malovic said. The investigation was launched four years ago, with Karic out of reach of Serbia's justice institutions.
