Milan Ivanovic, president of the Serb National Council for Northern Kosovo, has denied EULEX accusations that he has committed several serious crimes. His lawyer Ljubomir Pantovic said that a pre-trial process was under way "in which EULEX is accusing him of serious crimes without any evidence. " Serb official refutes EULEX accusations He said that Ivanovic was being accused of organizing, supporting and participating in a terrorist group, and also inciting national, religious and ethnic hatred, conflict and intolerance. One of the crimes includes endangering United Nations personnel by calling for someone to be killed, urging resistance, and participating in a group that committed a crime. Pantovic said that if everything went by the book, then no indictment could arise. The EULEX district public prosecution launched proceedings on February 10, which is when Ivanovic allegedly committed the crimes, “even though we were not able to find out what the prosecution is basing its claims on." He added that Ivanovic was also being accused of being a party to events related to last year’s torching of customs checkpoints in Brnjak and Jarinje. After being questioned at Zvecan police station, Ivanovic said that the charges were groundless, and that there was no case against him. "I think that this has a lot to do with political pressure. The accusations are serious and unfounded, and contain a lot of illogicalities, " he said. Ivanovic added that the questioning, which was attended by Kosovo police officials and EULEX observers, was carried out in a proper and calm atmosphere. The EULEX prosecution will be deciding in the coming days whether to raise an indictment.
