Two people have died, three children are in coma, after a crash on the Sirig-Cenej road near Novi Sad. The accident occurred this morning when the driver of a car tried to overtake another vehicle in the same lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Lasta coach, before spinning off into a nearby roadside ditch. Two dead, three seriously hurt in collision near Novi Sad The car driver and his wife had died in the accident, while four children who had been in the back seat suffered injuries, and are being treated at Novi Sad Children’s Hospital. The three seriously injured girls, aged 5 to 12 years, for whose lives the doctors are currently fighting, are the daughters of the victims. The fourth girl escaped with extensive, but not life threatening wounds. The bus driver and two passengers on the coach also sustained minor injuries. Police said this afternoon that the driver of the car, 37-year old Marinko Borenovic, despite poor visibility and slippery road conditions, while driving four children in the back seat, tried to overtake another vehicle, causing the fatal crash.
