Telekom Austria (TA) discarded the Serbian Anti-Corruption Council claims that the company had entered a secret deal with Serbian Government. According to the council, it concerned the purchase of Telekom Srbija, Serbia's state-owned telecommunications company that the government is attempting to sell. Telekom Austria rejects council's claims Telekom Austria said the allegations were "false and unfounded". Reacting on the last week’s statement made by the council chairwoman Verica Barac, TA announced that they were ready to “take legal measures in case of any libel statement that can harm business reputation of the company and investments in Serbia”. The Austrians were the sole bidder in the tender to sell a 51 percent stake of Telekom Srbija, but their initial offer was deemed inadequate, so the company was given a deadline to improve it. When the deadline expired, the Serbian government extended this period until May 3. TA offered EUR 950mn in cash and 450mn for investments. The government said that the minimal price for the controlling stake in Telekom Srbija was EUR 1.4bn.
