Turkish Airlines is interested in strategic partnership with Serbia’s national air carrier Jat Airways. The Turkish company in 2010 had third highest air traffic volume in Europe. Turkish Airlines interested in Jat Airways State Secretary for Air Traffic Miodrag Miljkovic says that the two companies negotiated during the entire 2010. “Turkish Airlines had meetings with Jat’s management during the entire last year, where they confirmed their readiness to be a potential strategic partner in the new company,” he pointed out. “We are completely ready to negotiate about the strategic partnership as soon as tomorrow. But unfortunately that would not be serious enough considering that the entire procedure needs to be carried out with a consultant, whom we haven’t chosen yet,” Miljkovic stressed. “Turkish Airlines is interested in development of its market and in that sense they are already having parallel talks with all countries of the former Yugoslavia. So, at the moment they are in a final phase of talks with Macedonian airports, they are working with Montenegrin aviation at the same time and they are already majority owners of the Bosnian air carrier,” he explained. The state secretary said that the Serbian government had decided that either side could be majority owner of the new company and that it would be a “matter of agreement”. (FoNet)
