The Serbian government on Thursday's session adopted a bill on consumer protection and forwarded it to the parliament for an expedited review procedure.

The Serbian government on Thursday's session adopted a bill on consumer protection and forwarded it to the parliament for an expedited review procedure. The new law will be in force as of January 1, 2011. Govt. adopts bill on consumer protection The new Law on Customer Protection introduces key European directives in this field and establishes a legal framework for consumer protection according to European standards. The government also adopted a Decree on the formation of a council for development of underdeveloped areas, the government's press office said in a statement. The government on Thursday also adopted draft laws on shipping and ports in the internal waters, on the transportation of hazardous cargo, amendments to the Law on Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment, and amendments to the Law on Protection against Noise in Living Environment. Also adopted were amendments to the Law on waste management and nature protection. The government meets in Belgrade on Thursday (Beta)
