Reliable and stable framework conditions for investment are a necessary prerequisite for German investment in Serbia. This is according to senior official of the German Ministry of Economy and Technology Bernd Pffafenbach, who spoke in Berlin on Tuesday. Minister at German-Serbian council After a meeting of the German-Serbian Business Council, the first in four years, Pffafenbach said that participants in the meeting agreed on the fact that "Serbia's EU perspective has no alternative" and that "only further economic, social and political association with the EU can enhance Serbia." Pffafenbach described the moment in which the Business Council meeting was held as favorable because, as he put it, the beginning of a new economic swing in Germany provides new opportunities for German-Serbian economic relations. Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic, who headed the Serbian delegation, called the rapid recovery of the German economy encouraging. "Given that Germany is one of our chief export markets, the swift German economic recovery will also pull with it the recovery of Serbian exports and industry and I think better days are ahead of us," Dinkic told reporters after the meeting in Berlin. Asked whether he noticed any hesitation among German investors regarding investment in Serbia, which was a discussion topic after German WAZ media group's announcement that it wanted to wrap up its operations in Serbia, Dinkic said he had not noticed any traces of that sort of mood. "WAZ can count on complete legal security and the implementation of all laws, just like all other investors, which is why I am inviting them to use all legal mechanisms to protest their interests in Serbia," Dinkic said. He added that negotiations are underway with 10 new German investors seeking to invest in Serbia, five of which are from the car industry.
