Serbia is economically the most stable country among those who aspire toward EU membership, says Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic. He pointed out that the Serbian government had reacted in time despite the Greek crisis, and the crisis which was present in the Western Balkans. FM: Stability is Serbia’s advantage “What happened in Greece was felt throughout Europe, therefore in the Balkans as well. The Serbian government reacted in time and reached an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which has enabled us to protect our macro-economical stability,” the FM added. During his visit to Slovakia on Thursday, Jeremic said that Serbia was economically the most stable country of all the candidates for EU membership., and added that this gave the country “a certain advantage”. “We continue the integration process and I believe that we will have partners on the European side in that,” he commented on the political circumstances which occurred after the Greek debt crisis broke out – something seen as not working in favor of any speedy EU enlargement.
