Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, ministers and representatives of retail chains believe there has been a marked increase in solvency in the retail sector. According to the government, over 70 percent of retail chains' debts to their suppliers have been settled, while the time taken to settle dues has fallen. PM notes improvements in retail sector Retailers’ total unpaid debts to suppliers are currently at around the EUR 53mn mark, said Trade and Services Minister Slobodan Milosavljevic. Milosavljevic said that the situation was considerably better than six weeks ago when this kind of meeting was held for the first time. “I particularly want to stress that there are big retail chains that hardly have any unpaid dues, like Mercator, Metro and Interex. Chains like Idea, Delta, and Veropoulos have cut theirs significantly and have reduced by a third their unpaid debts, and they're paying offer their suppliers much faster. All of which paints a better picture of business in Serbia,“ said Milosavljevic.
