Serbian public power company EPS will take part in a tender to purchase 18 percent of share of their Montenegrin counterparts, EPCG. This has been confirmed by EPS General Director Dragomir Markovic. Serbian power company to buy in Montenegro "The point is not in the ownership percentage, but in the fact that whoever wins this tender will get a contract to run the Montenegrin electric energy system. That is certainly not against the interest of Montenegro, and to us, it is above all important when it comes to managing the Drina basin, which starts in Montenegro. Then there's a good power plant, Perucac," explained Markovic. He added that this would not only improve the stability of Serbia's power system, but also that of the integral system, which would get more electricity from hydro plants, "and it would bring us closer to some new hydro projects in Montenegro". Markovic reminded that EPS regional investment plans include the construction of four hydro power plants on upper Drina and Sutjeska rivers, in Bosnia. When it comes to the shelved plans to build the huge Buk Bijela plant in the Tara Canyon, Markovic said this is "problematic" since the area a UNESCO-protected zone.
