GDP grew 4.9 pct in Q3

Serbia's GDP grew at a rate of 4.9 percent in the third quarter of 2008, compared to the same period last year.

Serbia's GDP grew at a rate of 4.9 percent in the third quarter of 2008, compared to the same period last year. Statistical Office (RZS) Director Dragan Vukmirovic told a news conference in Belgrade on Friday that financial mediation, traffic, trade, and ore extraction sectors grew the most, at rates of 13.9, 13.6, 7.6, and 4.2 percent respectively. GDP grew 4.9 pct in Q3 Hotel and restaurant businesses reported a drop of GDP growth amounting to 1.8 percent. According to the data released by the RZS, Serbia's industrial production dropped 2.6 percent last November, compared to the same period in 2007. The drop was recorded in the processing sector, and it began in October last year, which was the result of the global economic crisis and reduced demand. A growth of 2.5 percent was recorded in the production and supply of electricity, gas and water.

GDP grew 4.9 pct in Q3

Hotel and restaurant businesses reported a drop of GDP growth amounting to 1.8 percent.

According to the data released by the RZS, Serbia's industrial production dropped 2.6 percent last November, compared to the same period in 2007.

The drop was recorded in the processing sector, and it began in October last year, which was the result of the global economic crisis and reduced demand.

A growth of 2.5 percent was recorded in the production and supply of electricity, gas and water.
