Economic analysts have expressed support for the news that the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) will be making public the salaries of its employees. NIS stated yesterday that NIS Chairman Biserka Jeftimijevic-Drinjakovic would call for the company secrets tag to be removed, and for the salaries to be released to the public. NIS to make salaries public The statement added that NIS “is not funded by the tax payer” and that the “current company management inherited its payment system, which dates back to 2006.” NIS stated that the company had not been a public company since October 2005, when it was floated on the stock exchange, meaning that employee salaries were not financed by the tax payer. The company stated that in 2006, when the wage system was adopted for the company, it was also decided that the wages should not be made public. “The chairman of the board of directors will initiate the adoption of a decision to remove the status of company secret from the salaries, since these earlier decisions are still effective. It is important to point out that the current NIS administration has never received bonuses, nor any other kind of compensation, even though the company has reported significant profits during this period,” NIS stated.
