Annual inflation in October stands at 12.3 percent according to EU methodology, says the Statistical Office. Retail prices in October rose by 1.8 percent compared to September, and by 12.3 percent compared to 2007. In terms of the main groups of products and services, the highest price increases of 3.6 percent were recorded in the “accommodation, water, electricity, gas and other fuels“ group, following increases in coal and natural gas prices. October annual inflation: 12.3 percent Food and non-alcoholic drinks rose by 3.1 percent because of increases in the price of vegetables, fresh and processed meat and eggs, followed by education that rose 1.5 percent because of higher school fees. The biggest fall of 2 percent was recorded in health care, helped by reductions in the price of medicines, while the prices of other goods and services remained at more or less the same level. Under EU methodology, inflation is measured on the basis of average changes in the prices of retail goods and services for personal consumption, and includes flat rental and financial, educational and hospitality services.
