Serbian furniture manufacturer SIMPO says it has reached a business deal with Swedish IKEA. The Vranje, southern Serbia, based company will place its products in the Russian market via IKEA's retail chain there, said a statement. Furniture manufacturer in deal with IKEA The value of the furniture, that will include upholstered items and cribs, will be EUR 10mn this year. In 2011, the statement said, this figure should reach EUR 15mn, while negotiations are ongoing regarding the sale of mattresses from a Bujanovac-based plant to the markets in other parts of Europe and the Middle East. This should triple the production at the plant and create jobs, said the company. SIMPO and IKEA have also reached agreement that should result in further increase of the Serbian company's exports, said the statement, and noted that this year, the export figure was 30 percent higher than in 2009.
