New corona update: 24 people died

In the last 24 hours, 24 people died as a result of the infection.

There are 91 patients on respirators, and 2.047 on hospital treatment.

Until the new update, 16.541 samples were tested.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 1.293.394 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed, out of 7.189.047 tests performed.

As a result of the infection, 12.645 people died, and the mortality rate is 0.98 percent.

Deputy Director of KC Nis, Radmilo Janković, stated that there is no chance that the situation with COVID in Serbia will differ in the coming period compared to the circumstances in Western Europe.

In that part of Europe, countries are recording sudden leaps in the number of newly infected, and are forced to close in order to curb the spread of the virus. He stated that in recent days, the number of new cases of COVID-19 has begun to grow.

"We epidemically followed only a few dozen people who came from Botswana and West Africa and it turned out that half were positive. You can imagine what will happen when hundreds of people start coming from Germany, Switzerland, Austria...", Jankovic said.
