Arrest at the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad; The dean and five employees are suspected of money laundering
Members of the MIA, the Anti-Corruption Department of the Criminal Police Administration, in cooperation with the Tax Police, and on the order of the Special Anti-Corruption Department of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad, arrested six people.

Among those arrested are employees of the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they have damaged the state budget by more than 181 million dinars through illegal activities.
Due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that he committed criminal acts of money laundering and prolonged criminal offense of abuse of official position, B.J. (65), the responsible person for financial affairs of the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad, was arrested, while V.Š. (1985), head of the Department for legal, personnel and general affairs of the faculty and Dj.M. (61), the de facto responsible person of a student cooperative in Novi Sad, is suspected of the criminal offense of money laundering and the extended criminal offense of abuse of official position in assisting.
In this action, the Dean of the faculty S.B. (61) and S.T. (46), a clerk from the Department for Financial Accounting Affairs of the faculty were arrested due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed a prolonged criminal offense of abuse of official position in complicity, as well as R.G. (52), a manager within the Department for Financial Accounting Affairs who, in addition to this criminal offense, is also charged with the extended criminal offense of tax evasion.
As suspected, Dj.M., according to the previous agreement with B.J. and V.Š. from the account of the Novi Sad student cooperative, during 2022 and 2023, converted into cash 15,511,330 dinars out of a total of 21,235,508 dinars that the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad paid to this cooperative on the basis of false invoices issued for the work of its members, which were not executed. Then he gave this money to V.Š., while he kept more than 1.7 million dinars in the cooperative's account and thus obtained an illegal financial benefit. In this way, as is suspected, they damaged the budget of Serbia by more than 17.2 million dinars.
R.G. is suspected that, from January 2022 to June 2024, in order to avoid paying corporate income tax, she provided incorrect data to the Tax Administration on two occasions in order to show a lower base for calculating income tax that was realized on the market, which damaged the state budget by 115,968,480 dinars.
Also, there are grounds for suspicion that B.J., R.G., S.B. and S.T., from January 2022 to the end of 2024, illegally calculated taxes and contributions on the basis of paid wages higher than prescribed, thus damaging the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad for 47,433,749 dinars.
In the morning, the media announced that the dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad was arrested this morning in an operation by the police and the prosecutor's office, together with five other persons on suspicion of increasing the salaries of professors outside the rules.
S.B. is a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Novi Sad, where he currently holds the position of dean.
Her mandate has recently been in focus due to the accusations. The higher public prosecutor's office in Novi Sad initiated criminal proceedings against her and several other members of the strike committee due to suspicion of abuse of official position and obstruction of the work of the faculty, reports K1.
