Questioning begins at the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office; They planned to set cars on fire
The questioning of a five-member group led by M.V. from Novi Sad has begun at the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office (HPPO) in Belgrade. The group allegedly planned to incite unrest in Belgrade on election night, October 25, Tanjug has learned.
The suspects were brought to the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office (HPPO) in Belgrade, where they are giving their statements. A decision on whether to place them in detention will be made afterward.
Tanjug has been informed that none of those arrested is a student, contrary to claims made by some media outlets yesterday.
Among those arrested, alongside M.V., who holds a Croatian passport, is Bosnian citizen D.L., who is known to security authorities for his alleged links to criminal circles.
During the preceding period, M.V. allegedly recruited individuals who would operate under his command and procured weapons and other means to carry out acts of violence against people with opposing views and the police.
He allegedly planned to come to Belgrade with around 80 people and, according to information obtained by Tanjug, set cars on fire, target people they considered to be “ćacis,” rob them of their money, throw Molotov cocktails from scooters, and cause serious unrest.
He had also reportedly announced that he and his group, fully equipped for combat and armed with clubs, balaclavas, flares, and knives, would arrive in 15 to 20 cars and hide in safe houses and apartments. They would then begin causing unrest at the call of those allegedly behind the Student Electoral List.
