Dodik: Serb Republic is state, Bosnia-Herzegovina is nothing

"The referendum is something we agreed on and we will hold it. I appreciate Vucic and we discuss everything. Serbia's position is to support the Dayton Agreement and the territorial integrity of the RS," Dodik told B92 late on Wednesday.

A little over a month is left until the referendum. It is expected that RS authorities might reexamine their decision and decide not to hold it after Thursday's meeting in Belgrade.

"I think the referendum cannot be canceled for technical and for political reasons. This is a reaction to Bakir Izetbegovic action to abolish January 9 (RS Day) for the Serbs. Then, we will add also that the Serb Republic is a state, while Bosnia-Herzegovina is nothing," he said.

The message from the Serbian government, meanwhile, is that the RS can rely on Belgrade when it comes to stability and economic development.
