EU unanimously extends sanctions against Russia

Foreign ministers of the EU agreed to extend for six months sanctions imposed on Russia "for violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine."

EU unanimously extends sanctions against Russia

Tanjug said that the sanctions "imposed because of Russian support pro-Russian forces in Ukraine" were supposed to expire tomorrow, but will be in force until January 23, 2016.

Last week a separate set of sanctions against Russia were also extended, imposed "for the annexation of Crimea." those will be valid until June next year.

In addition to the situation in Ukraine, the main topics of the meeting in Luxembourg are "EU's naval action aimed at stopping a wave of refugees from Africa and the Middle East trying to reach Europe via the Mediterranean," and also "the political crisis in Macedonia."
