In a video message, Nikolic congratulated the upcoming holidays, noting he was saying "nothing new" when he said that "a difficult year" was behind us - while what was "new" were "the better days ahead of us."

According to Nikolic, "what will happen in 2016 - and especially in the year after it" can be awaited "with more faith, smiles, and optimism."

The president said that good relations with countries around the world guarantee that Serbia will always have the backing, and added:

"Sometimes left, sometimes right, sometimes in the East, and sometimes in the West. We will have no enemies, but only countries that will compete to participate in our recovery."
