Dismissed police director appointed as PM's adviser
Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic has been relieved of his duties, Tanjug was told at the Interior Ministry (MUP) on Thursday.

Vladimir Rebic, who until now served as head of MUP's traffic police, is taking over as acting police director, the government said.
A statement noted that Veljovic was relieved of his duties in line with the Law on the Police, "according to which he has fulfilled all legal requirements for retirement."
Media on several occasions during the past two weeks reported that Veljovic would be dismissed, while Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic neither confirmed nor denied this.
Stefanovic said earlier this week he would "address the public on this subject in the coming days."
Veljovic became police director in 2006 when Dragan Jocic served as interior minister, and was reappointed in 2011, while Ivica Dacic held the portfolio.
His possible dismissal has been mentioned on several occasions since 2012. In recent days, the speculation was that he might retire.
