Serbia's U-20 national football team are world champions

Mali beat 10-man Senegal 3-1 to clinch the third place at the championships.

Tanjug is reporting that "players in both teams were in tears at the end of the memorable and exciting final match at North Harbor Stadium," while "the winners, considered outsiders at the beginning of the championship, became overwhelmed with joy and received the cup showered with confetti, chanting and singing ‘We love you Serbia’." Serbia’s national team coach Veljko Paunovic congratulated the opponent on the “incredible football” shown, stressing that Brazil, too, had deserved to win the cup.

Paunovic said he believed his players could climb to the top of the world as seniors as well.

“This generation has many very good players who will play the biggest matches representing the country and the best clubs in the world,” said Paunovic.
