The draft that entered public debate on Wednesday also proposes the same status for families with children being raised by two same-sex persons.
"Although according to the Law on Life Partnership the same sex partner who is not a child's parent has under certain conditions the right to the so-called partnership rights, which are almost equal to parenting rights, the new law is telling them clearly that they are not a family," the daily Jutarnji List is reporting.
According to the newspaper, and the vijesti.hr website, "few countries in Europe have legally defined family," while Croatia has now done it "in such a way that unless there are children, there is no family."
This now raises many questions, such as whether children whose parents are deceased and who are raised by their grandparents live in a family, and whether a wife and a husband, whose child has died, are still considered a family.
Agree completely - furthermore they should tell the church to stay the hell out of politics, absolutely nothing to do with them. Seems like its a slow news day in Croatia, nothing like some controversy to stir the pot. A common trend in our part of Europe unfortunately

Have Croatian politicians got anything better to do??? This is a affront to the cases you have already mentioned but a husband and wife life-long partnership is a family regardless of whether or not they are fortunate enough to have children,in my book. The fact that they have been unable to have children for whatever reason, or have yet to have them, does not exclude them from society and the foundation of a society is the family. This proposal is absolutely banal but nothing coming out of that country surprises me and in fact never has!!!
