An international police operation launched by regional police forces resulted in the seizure of 40 kilograms of heroin, it has been announced. Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic explained on Friday in Belgrade that the drugs were found and confiscated in two vehicles in Romania. Dacic told Tanjug news agency that officers from Serbia's Service for Fighting Organized Crime and MUP's Criminal Investigations Police Administration took part in the operation. Their counterparts from Romania, Bulgaria and Austria also participated. The goal of the operation was to prevent smuggling along the so-called Balkan Route. Three persons have also been arrested as suspects, it was reported.

Dačić told Tanjug news agency that officers from Serbia's Service for Fighting Organized Crime and MUP's Criminal Investigations Police Administration took part in the operation.

Their counterparts from Romania, Bulgaria and Austria also participated.

The goal of the operation was to prevent smuggling along the so-called Balkan Route.
