Christians in Serbia and all over the world are today celebrating Easter - Christianity's most important holiday. This year, it falls on the same day according to both Julian and Gregorian calendars, making it possible for Serbia's majority Orthodox and minority Catholic and Protestant believers to celebrate on the same day. Serbia's Christians celebrate Easter The celebrations, dedicated to the resurrection of Jesus Christ after this crucifixion and death, started with midnight liturgies and masses in churches and temples across the country. In Belgrade, midnight liturgy was served in the Church of St. Micheal the Archangel, while midnight mass was served in the Catholic Cathedral of Virgin Mary, which was attended by worshipers and President Boris Tadic, along with several government ministers. In Kosovo, a large number of Serbs gathered at the medieval monastery of Gracanica in the Serb enclave, to attend morning liturgy. Serbian Orthodox Church Patriarch Irinej served morning liturgy in Belgrade.
