Adoption of Danube strategy “historic day”

Serbia's Deputy PM Bozidar Djelic said Friday that adoption of the Danube strategy by the EU represented a historic day for the Danube region. "The adoption of the Danube strategy is a crucial moment, turning this river, which has been a border and the location of many battles for a long time, into a river of peace and cooperation," the Danube strategy national coordinator said at a reception for the participants of a Danube conference held at the Belgrade City Hall. The two-day conference, which began Friday evening and will last until June 26, focuses on tourism development in the lower Danube region, since it could generate progress in this underdeveloped area. The event is organized by Djelic's office, the Serbian and Bulgarian Economy Ministries, the Romanian Regional Development and Tourism Ministry and the Danube Competence Centre.
