Ex-basketball player stabbed in Belgrade

Famous Serbian basketball player Predrag Danilović was stabbed with a knife in Belgrade last night and is stable after surgery.

Belgrade’s Emergency Center Director Zlatibor Lončar told B92 that Danilović had been admitted on Saturday morning with serious injuries to his stomach, head and hands.

According to him, the famous basketball player underwent surgery and is now in stable condition.

Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljović told a press conference on Saturday that Danilović had been stabbed in a restaurant.

“The police are investigating how the conflict broke out and what caused it,” he explained.

Danilović was born in 1970 in Sarajevo. As a member of the Yugoslav national basketball team he won four European championships and a silver Olympic medal. He won 1994 FIBA Europe Player of the Year Award.

He is currently a director of the Partizan Basketball Club.
