Serbia’s future will be certain if we continue down this path, Democratic Party (DS) leader and presidential candidate Boris Tadić told daily Večernje novosti.

Serbia’s future will be certain if we continue down this path, Democratic Party (DS) leader and presidential candidate Boris Tadic told daily Vecernje novosti. “According to all estimates, this is the last year of the economic crisis and once it is over, the team I am heading will be ready to get off to a flying start. Every other political path offered ahead of the elections is uncertain and risky to citizens and the state,” he was quoted as saying. “Serbia’s future will be certain with Democrats” Tadic explained why these elections were important and represented a kind of referendum on Serbia’s future path. “The elections are an opportunity to decide whether we continue the reform process, for which we received recognitions from the European Commission and the European Council, and an opportunity to continue the policy that brings investors and opens new jobs. The citizens decided on Serbia’s future in all the elections in Serbia after October 5. They were deciding whether the country would stay on the integration path or whether the opposition would turn things the other way. It is the same this time. There is no guarantee which way Serbia would go if a coalition between (Serbian Progressive Party leader Tomislav) Nikolic, (Strength of Serbia Movement leader) Bogoljub Karic and (New Serbia leader) Velja Ilic won,” he added. The DS leader noted that there were not many differences regarding key political issues between the Democrats and the Progressives now. “Nikolic is today saying everything that is different from what he was saying yesterday. That is why there is a question what he would do tomorrow. The DS has been consistently advocating the idea to modernize Serbia in order to change our lives for the better for 20 years, we have taken risks in hard times. We made decision that were not always the most popular but were necessary so Serbia could move forward. On the other hand, you have Tomislav Nikolic who does not even hide that he is only saying things he is saying right now because he expects to win the elections that way.
