KFOR demands unconditional freedom of movement for its troops, EULEX members, other institutions and citizens, says KFOR Spokesman Uwe Nowitzki. He said that KFOR believed that the removal of barricades in northern Kosovo was a positive sign. KFOR demands “unconditional freedom of movement” “Even though opening of one traffic lane is a step in the right direction, KFOR demands unconditional freedom for KFOR, EULEX mission, other institutions and citizens,” the KFOR spokesman told Beta news agency. Nowitzki also called on Serbs at the barricades to “stop their activities and completely remove the barricades”. He has confirmed that one lane of the Kosovska Mitrovica-Ribarice road in the village of Zupce was unblocked at 9:00 CET on Thursday and that a monitoring mission passed through. Northern Kosovo Serbs, who have been blocking the roads since September 16 in protest of deployment of Kosovo customs officers to the Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings, started partially removing the barricades this morning. They have announced that they will allow KFOR to go through so they could bring supplies to its troops but that they will only let EULEX go through if the mission agrees not to transport Kosovo policemen and customs officers.
