Dačić receives Best European award

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic received the Best European award for contributions made to politics. The award was given to Dacic at a ceremony held in the Belgrade assembly building. Dacic receives Best European award The Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader was awarded for the contributions he made in 2009 to the European integration of Serbia. Dacic said that he believes that he was recognized for reforms made to the party as well. He said that the day would come when every political party in Serbia would have the same goal of joining the European Union. Dacic said that it was a lot easier for him than for other political leaders in Serbia, because no one expected him to contribute so much to European integrations. “Everything I did towards European integrations is a phenomenal success, since no one expected anything from me,” Dacic said. Dacic was also recognized for consolidating SPS and turning it into a modern pro-European party. The award presentation also stated that Dacic has worked tirelessly and without compromise to fight corruption and crime as the Interior Minister, and that he helped pass the traffic law last year, along with working to get the new biometric passports completed and convincing EU colleagues that Serbia has fulfilled all conditions for being placed on the Schengen white list for visa-free travel.
