Six days before the scheduled Western Balkans meeting in Slovenia, it is still not certain whether President Boris Tadic will be in attendance. Slovenia’s intention as the organizer of the conference is for both Tadic and Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Thaci to be in attendance. Tadic’s presence at conference still uncertain As a solution, Slovenia proposed that the leaders participate in the conference without any kind of denotation of what countries they are representing. The spokesperson of Tadic’s Democratic Party (DS) Jelena Trivan said that Serbia’s stance is well-documented on this issue. “Serbia’s position is very clear, and it is that we support the participation of Kosovo at all regional forums under Resolution 1244, and we will always support that principle position. I do not want to get involved in the debates and guesses of what way Serbia will participate in the regional forum, that is not good to do,” Trivan said. Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor said that he cannot confirm that the conference will even be held because of the dispute between Serbia and Kosovo. Croatia, the Council of Europe, and the European Commission are also helping Slovenia with the organization of the conference scheduled for March 20. (Tanjug archive)
