Prime minister says he read Kosovo platform "several times"

He told reporters in Belgrade that top state officials will first discuss the platform while "intellectuals and public figures" will be included later.

Vucic said that the platform will be presented to the general public "when it is determined what of the text is feasible in practice."

"It is a voluminous and serious text. When we perceive how realistic it is and if it can be put into practice, we will go to the public. We'll talk about it at the top state level. It is necessary that everyone is acquainted with the text - prominent intellectuals, public servants, legal professional...," said Vucic told reporters.

Asked "whether he thought that Serbia will have problems with the European Union because of the platform," Vucic said he "understands President Nikolic," and that "Nikolic understands excellently the kind of situation - not an easy one - that Serbia is in."

"On one side it is faced with the European and economic future depending on you making some concessions that you would not make in certain moments," the prime minister has been quoted as saying, and adding:

"And then you always get into a situation to have to weigh and measure, and that is the essence doing politics seriously, and that is why I am convinced that we will find the best way and the answer."

According to Vucic, "nothing is the Holy Writ, except a better life for citizens of Serbia."

"We are ready to talk about it, as well as any other act," said Vucic.

He added that he "knows that the president is ready to hear suggestions and see what it is that we would change."

"I am convinced that the EU does not want and will not accept the canceling of dialogue, although that is not written in the text, or for us to narrow down our position to the point that we cannot continue the talks with Kosovo Albanians in a serious way," said Vucic.

He added that "we need to consider our position according to this and all the global trends."

"It is a serious matter which we will view in that way, and address our citizens in that way" - said Vucic.
