Monument revealed in Kosovska Mitrovica

The Monument of Truth was placed in northern Kosovska Mitrovica, close to the Ibar bridge in that town.

Monument revealed in Kosovska Mitrovica

Several hundred Serb residents of the northern Kosovo town divided along ethnic lines by the Ibar River gathered for the ceremony and said they would never accept Kosovo’s independence, but added they would also not react, “since there have already been too many innocent victims.”

They also said they would use all legitimate means to fight for the province and expressed hope for a compromise, which would be the only just outcome, according to the gathering.

The monument is six meters high, ends in a dome with four White Angel icons, and has the names of the 194 victims from the Kosovska Mitrovica region.

A space on the monument was left blank for the names of the 39 Serbs from the area still listed as missing.
