Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulating him on Russia's national day.

Erdogan in "first contact" with Putin since downing of Su-24

According to the agency, this happened "on Turkey's border with Syria" and was then "exacerbated by Moscow's role in the Syrian war."
