Libyan Rebels have taken over Muammar Gaddafi’s compound, robbed it and seized the weapons they found. 400 people were killed in the last three days in Tripoli.

Libyan Rebels have taken over Muammar Gaddafi’s compound, robbed it and seized the weapons they found. 400 people were killed in the last three days in Tripoli. Gaddafi has said that withdrawal from the Bab al-Aziziya residence is a “tactical move”, bearing in mind that the compound has been targeted 64 times by NATO. Rebels at compound, Gaddafi’s whereabouts unknown In his speech at a local radio station, the Libyan leader promised "martyrdom or victory" in his fight against the rebels and NATO forces. The rebels entered the Bab al-Aziziya compound on Tuesday and put up their flag on the roof. Taking over the Bab al-Aziziya represents a great success of the Libyan rebels but they still cannot claim the victory since Gaddafi and his sons’ whereabouts are still unknown and there is still some fighting in Tripoli. The rebels beat up and killed some of Gaddafi’s men who tried to protect the compound and took large amounts of weapons. Gaddafi’s current whereabouts are unknown. Rebels believe that he is probably hiding in one of his numerous hiding places in the capital. Troops loyal to Gaddafi and rebels are currently fighting for control over the town of Sabha, probably the Libyan leader’s last stronghold, a rebel leader has said. (Tanjug)
